Pinckney Island National Wildlife Refuge
For those who are not familiar with the area, Pinckney Island is located between South Carolina mainland and Hilton Head Island. Pinckney is rich in wildlife and wonder, which made the island a wildlife refuge — a perfect habitat for migrant birds and large concentrations of herons, egrets and whole lot more. Though there are no facilities installed on the island for visitors, bird enthusiasts can hike and take photos of the wildlife.
Anyone who has the “birding bug” knew that there’s something more with the old cliché the early bird gets the worm, because most birds tend to be active early in the morning hankering for breakfast. Participating in the birding event at Pinckney will spare you from occasional disappointment, since you’ll be hanging around with fellow enthusiasts and experts. Just make sure you have your binocular and camera with you to make sure you won’t miss the beauty of the trip.
